Paper Flowers have once again gained in popularity and can be seen dressing beautiful weddings, interiors, store windows, advertisements etc. Their unique and artistic quality adds a colorful touch of distinction, whimsy and delight. I’ve been making paper flowers since I was a child and first discovered crepe paper. Since then I have continued to fashion realistic looking blossoms from all kinds of papers. From realistic to fanciful and from large to small…I’ve done them all! They can be used in so many way…bouquets, arrangements, gift wrapping, wreaths etc. My current paper of choice is the hard to find imported German crepe paper known as Gloria Doublette. It is a durable, double thick crepe paper with a different color tone on each side. This two-toned nature makes for very life-like looking flowers and it’s sturdiness contributes to long lasting florals. It’s fine texture and malleability works wonders in reproducing nature. I have had the pleasure of hosting and teaching many workshops to share the techniques involved in paper flower making. It is a very popular, inexpensive and easy to learn craft resulting in some captivating and charming faux flowers.
